D-GENERATION X'S HISTORY

We trace the origins of one of the most popular groups in wrestling history

October 13, 1997
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Hunter Hearst Helmsley a.k.a. Triple H, and his bodyguard Chyna start calling themselves D-Generation X after Bret "The Hitman" Hart says they're "nothing more than degenerates". They are joined by "Ravishing" Rick Rude, who leaves soon after.

March 29, 1998
At Wrestlemania XIV, HBK is WWF Champion while Triple H is European Champion. They hire boxer Mike Tyson to be the "special enforcer" of the main event so that Shawn can beat "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. In the end, Tyson plays fair and Austin wins his first WWF Championship.

March 30, 1998
HBK leaves the WWF because of a bad back injury. Triple H now declares himself leader of DX wth Chyna. He then introduces new members X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws: Road Dogg Jesse James and Bad Ass Billy Gunn.
The Outlaws win the WWF Tag Team Championship four times as part of D-Generation X. Also known as DX Army, these five feud with the Nation of Domination, led by The Rock. Later, Mr. McMahon starts another group to battle DX known as the Corporation.
